ANTHONY PTAK & JAVIER DIEZ-ENA

Anthony Jay Ptak (b. 1970 Brooklyn, NY) is an artist and composer who has studied
under Tony Conrad, Paul Sharits, Lydia Kavina, and Herbert Brun, and had technical
consultations with Robert Moog. He performed at the First International Theremin
Festival in 1997, and has been a guest artist at the historic Experimental Music Studios
at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign since 2000. He was appointed
visiting researcher in 2001, and teaches sound for new media artists in the School of
Art and Design. He has given presentations, designed site specific compositions, and
performances on the theremin, invented instruments, and electro-acoustics at Society
for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS), School of the Art Institute,
Chicago Cultural Center, St. Louis Art Museum, Krannert Art Museum, FFMUP
Princeton University, Issue Project Room, Millennium, Media Lab Madrid, Calart Actual
LaGranja, Roulette Intermedium, The Kitchen, IMEB Bourges, and Institute for
Advanced Study in Princeton, NJ. He is a founding member of the New York Theremin
Society.

Javier Díez-Ena (b. 1974 Zaragoza, Spain) plays mainly theremin,
upright bass and electric bass, and also instruments like the
steel-guitar, electric kalimbas, saz, setar, didjeridoo and musical
saw. He has toured and recorded with Spanish artists in avariety of
genres including jazz, rock, IDM, hardcore, experimental avant-garde.
He plays upright bass with the band Dead Capo. He also works on solo
projects that mix noise, ambient and musical instruments processed
with software. As a thereminist he has played with DJs, in festivals,
TV shows, theatre plays, and as a solo performer atMedia Lab Madrid.
